Ryu Class

Class Supplies
In Ryu class, the focus will be on the Tokugawa Era. Among the things to be studied are Confucianism, Buddhism, and Shinto, castles, and womes's role in feudal Japan. The second week will feature a class performance of Bunraku (puppetry) and the class field trip to the San Francisco Asian Art Museum.
Students will wear all black (black t-shirts, pants) for the Bunraku performance. The school has the supplies for the doll making but we appreciate if you have any old yukata, kimono, or happi which we can use as clothing.
Please have your child bring the following supplies in a box labeled with your child's name. The box will stay in the class for the whole session.
- pencils and erasers
- binder paper
- colored markers and pencils
- glue stick
- black Sharpie pen
- crayons
- dictionary (English)
- tacky glue (optional)
